Volunteering

Raw Running are keen to recruit volunteers for their 2021 events. Volunteers are the people who really make an event work and make the athletes’ experience special. Our volunteers can perform a number of roles and will work in teams to make the event run smoothly and ensure competitors have an enjoyable day. Our existing marshals and volunteers have received glowing reports about our great team from race referees and the athletes themselves.

If you fancy offering your services then please contact Mick or Debbie at info@rawrunning.co.uk. Every volunteer will receive a marshal pack to see you through the event and we will also provide you with food and drink vouchers.

Most of our events are on Sundays and some have fairly early starts. The roles available: Registration Desk, Finish Zone, Aid Stations, Venue Marshals, Direction Marshals, Car Parking, Equipment and Distribution. Volunteers will receive either one complimentary race entry for any future REP/RR event for you, a partner or a friend, or out of pocket expenses.

So, if you’re an athlete who’s willing to give up a morning for a free race or a supporter who feels like helping please let us know and be part of the Raw Running team!

Who marshals at our events? We have a range of regulars who play key roles within the team; others enjoy their experience and meet other people. If you’re an injured athlete or having a day off and have 2-4 hours to spare then you’ll get a free race of your choosing on us.

As a marshal you may be expected to offer advice, answer some questions or simply offer encouragement; and you know that you will have contributed to delivering a great event. Marshals receive a huge amount of appreciation from athletes.

What’s next? We’ll add you to our marshals list and then nearer the event date we’ll send you an email with event maps and details about your specific responsibilities. We often require marshals to be on site early, but we won’t expect you to hang around for too long and will keep updated throughout the race.

Our aim is to look after you and hopefully you’ll feel part of the team. We have years of experience both in racing, organising and being part of the volunteer network. The courses and routes have all been personally tested and as quite a few are around the Sussex coast or South Downs National Park we know they’re picturesque too.
